(WJLA) - A vigil will be held Wednesday evening to mark the third anniversary of the murder of a 25-year-old Forestville man. The case remains unsolved with police admitting they have few leads, but the man's mother is not giving up hope.
Dawn Thomas says her son, Brandon Braswell, grew up to become a fine young man.
"Brandon's goal in life was to take care of his daughter, his mother, and his grandmother," she says.
Three years ago, Brandon was killed in a barrage of gunfire as he left a nightclub on St. Barnabas Road.
Braswell left the club around 3 a.m. and was in his car when somebody started shooting.
Braswell's mother counted several bullet holes in the car. Detectives believe it was a case of mistaken identity, but despite the offer of a $25,000 reward for information, no arrest has ever been made.
"They are working some leads," says Lt. William Alexander. "They just need a little bit more to positively identify the suspect or suspects in this case."
"He had no right to take my baby from me, no right, I'm sorry."
