Boil Water Advisory for D.C. lifted; tap water safe "for all purposes"

(WJLA) - The boil water advisory that had been in place for portions of the District since Wednesday night has been lifted, D.C.'s water and sewer authority announced Friday.

In a release lifting the advisory, the water and sewer authority said the water was safe "for all purposes."

District residents who live in Northwest, particularly in areas west and southwest of Rock Creek Park, had been forced to boil water for drinking, brushing teeth, preparing and cooking food and making ice since Wednesday evening. The boil water advisory was blamed on a power outage at the Ft. Reno Pumping station.
