Significant delays persisted through the morning on Metro's Blue and Yellow Lines due to a hydraulic fluid leak on the tracks in Arlington, WMATA officials say.

Hydraulic fluid began to accidentally leak on the outbound tracks between Braddock Road and Pentagon City just before 5 a.m., officials say. It caused single-tracking between the two stations for several hours.

At each station, riders reported crowded trains and packed platforms as Metro worked to rectify the problem.

Normal operations resumed at about 11:15 a.m.
