Billy Joel concert delayed at Nats Park due to rain
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Rain, thunder and lightning forced fans to wait for more than an hour and a half to see Billy Joel perform on Saturday night.
The concert at Nationals Park was delayed for the safety of the fans. They were allowed in the stadium but not allowed in their seats while the rain was pouring down. Most fans took the delay in stride.
"Well the weather could be better but we're going to see Billy Joel so we'll put up with it," said Pam Hird.
Other fans grew impatient after about an hour of waiting.
"I'm ready to go now," said Tim Hammer. "We brought ponchos, we're ready. Play in the rain, I don't care."
After about an hour and a half delay, Billy Joel took the stage, but not before many fans left.
"The field is soaked. The seats are soaked," said Mary Joe Willenborg. "If you go out there anyway you're going to be soaked."
