BET co-founder Sheila Johnson gets new AOL job, leaves UVa. board

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Black Entertainment Television co-founder Sheila Johnson has stepped down from the University of Virginia's Board of Visitors after taking a job with the AOL Huffington Post Media Group.

U.Va. officials tell the Daily Progress that they expect Gov. Bob McDonnell to appoint a replacement this summer. She stepped down in mid-April, saying her new responsibilities would deprive her time to devote to the board.

The company named Johnson its strategic adviser for multicultural and African-American initiatives.
