Best hospitals in America: Johns Hopkins ranked #2
Out of the nearly 5,000 hospitals that serve the American public in the United States, Johns Hopkins is still among the best, according to U.S. News Best Hospital Rankings.
However, for the first time since 1990, it's not #1.
Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore comes in 2nd on this years list, ending a 21-year run as the nation's top hospital in the survey. That spot is now occupied by Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
The Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center round out the top 5.
The 17 hospitals that made this specific list - dubbed the Honor Roll - are the ones that score near the top of the rankings in at least six of the publication's other lists, which are categorized by specialty.
Johns Hopkins ranked #1 in the Geriatrics, Ear, Nose & Throat, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Rheumatology categories in the U.S. News rankings.
