ARLINGTON, Va. (WJLA) -- If you're a fan of those renowned half-smokes and that famous chili from Ben's Chili Bowl, but you happen to live in Northern Virginia - you're in luck! The iconic restaurant is now coming to Arlington.
Ben's will open on Wilson Boulevard at the site that used to be home to Ray's Hell Burger. It made news when President Obama stopped in for a bite in 2009.
For 50 years now, Ben's has seen its share of both presidents and regular customers. Now, the Ali family that owns it wants to expand, and when the Arlington site became available, it seemed like the perfect time to cross the bridge.
So far, the franchise has opened a bar and restaurant next door, and stands at both FedEx and the Nats Stadiums, but this is its first foray into Virginia. A Ben's is also under construction on H Street in Northeast and slated to open late next year - but Arlington residents won't have to wait that long.
Because the restaurant fixtures are already in place, the Ali family hopes to have this location open by early next year.
