A 13-year-old girl escaped from an attempted kidnapping Wednesday morning in Bealeton, officials say, and a search is underway for two suspects.

Fauquier County Sheriff's officials say the incident happened at about 7 a.m. Wednesday in the 10900 block of Blake Lane near Hunt Place in Bealeton. Authorities say the young victim was walking to a school bus stop when she walked past a white van with two men inside.

Officials say the victim then heard someone approaching her from behind and was subsequently grabbed. She was able to work herself free from the suspect's grasp. She ran to the bus stop to warn other students before running home.

"It's very scary. Anything can happen to anybody, anywhere," the victim's mom added.

She says her daughter is doing okay after the terrifying incident.

"She was very brave. I'm very proud. She did exactly what she was supposed to do," she added.

One of the suspects is described by Fauquier County authorities as a possibly Hispanic man in his 30's standing about 5-foot-7. A lookout has been placed for a white van with a side door on the passenger side.
