Bashua Olaseha, injured Prince George's County police officer, visits headquarters
PALMER PARK, Md. (WJLA) – A Prince George’s County police officer who was injured during a traffic stop visited friends and colleagues Friday.
Bashua Olaseha, 26, was in serious condition after a minivan crashed into him during a traffic stop in Forestville on May 22. Olaseha and two additional patrol officers were wrapping up a traffic stop at Pennsylvania Avenue near Walters Lane around 9 a.m. when a minivan headed toward them.
All three officers tried to dodge the vehicle, but the minivan struck Olaseha, who has served in the police department for a year and a half. He was trapped under the minivan for several minutes before he was freed by several police officers and fire and EMS personnel.
Friday’s visit was Olaseha’s first time back at the station since the accident. He is expected to make a full recovery.
