ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - The Artisphere arts center in Arlington is opening an exhibit focusing on how environmental conservation and sustainability influence contemporary art.
The exhibit, "Contain, Maintain, Sustain," opens Thursday as a joint project with the Washington Project for the Arts and Washington Sculptors Group.
The artworks include sculpture, video and collage pieces. Some of the pieces focus on how reusing objects can lead to innovative designs. Other pieces look at how reuse of everyday objects tests the value of art.
Curators chose 24 international and locally based artists to present their work.
They come from Virginia, Washington and Maryland, as well as New York, New Orleans, Spain, Italy and Peru.
The exhibit is on view through July 17.
It's Artisphere's largest exhibit since opening last year.
