Arlington, Montgomery to host September 11th events

(WJLA, AP) - Arlington County - home to the Pentagon - and Montgomery County{ }will host several events to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Friday, a remembrance ceremony will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Courthouse Square Park, near the corner of Jefferson St. and Maryland Ave, in Montgomery County. The event will feature performances by the county's law enforcement gospel choir and{ }{ }the Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes and Drums. County Executive Isiah Leggett, County Council President Valerie Ervin, Rockville Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio and U.S. Congressman Chris Van Hollen will be in attendance.

A commemorative event Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Air Force Memorial, which overlooks the Pentagon, will feature musical performances by the Air Force Band Brass Quintet Ensemble and Wakefield High School's a cappella choir. The event is designed to honor the 184 people who lost their lives in the Pentagon attack.

The county also is sponsoring a 5K run Saturday that starts and ends in Crystal City and goes by the Pentagon. The run benefits a variety of charities related to Sept. 11 and military families.
