Angel Campos Tellez pleads to sex trafficking in Va.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - An illegal immigrant from Mexico has pleaded guilty to helping lead a prostitution ring that employed more than 100 women throughout Virginia, Maryland and Delaware.

Twenty-seven-year-old Angel Campos Tellez admitted Wednesday in federal court in Alexandria that he helped run the ring, which operated between 2009 and 2012.

Court documents state Campos Tellez received at least $15,000 for his role in the enterprise, in which women were paid $30 for 15 minutes of sex.

The ring operated in Woodbridge, Manassas, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Baltimore and Delaware, among other locations.

Campos Tellez admitted that he helped advertise the business by handing out business cards at Spanish restaurants, check cashing stores, construction and day laborer sites.

Court records show he had been deported twice previously.
