An Amtrak train has struck a vehicle in Lorton Tuesday morning, temporarily causing trains to stop, according to authorities.

The Virginia Railway Express says this happened north of their Rippon station. Fairfax County Police say an elderly man took a wrong turn onto the tracks and his SUV was struck lightly. Officers say no one was injured. Prince William County Police were called to the scene to assist.

Train officials said Tuesday morning that travelers should look for alternative transportation and that the Metro option was open and buses were available.
