Alphonso Cleveland charged in murder of NE woman

WASHINGTON (AP) - Police say they've arrested a District of Columbia man for killing a woman in northeast Washington.

Police say 52-year-old Alphonso Cleveland was arrested Saturday and charged with second degree murder while armed.

Police say he killed 51-year-old Claudia Hall, who was found dead Friday afternoon in the 300 block of 18th Place northeast.

Police said only that Hall had trauma to her body and that an autopsy would be conducted to determine how she died.

Reached by telephone Saturday, Cleveland's brother said he doesn't yet have a lawyer. He said Hall and Cleveland were married but splitting up.
