Alexis Murphy missing: Surveillance photos released of missing 17-year-old

NELSON CO, Va. (WJLA) – The FBI is hoping new surveillance photos will help them find Alexis Murphy. The 17-year old Nelson County native has been missing for almost a week now.

Investigators say the new images show her at the Liberty Gas station in Lovingston, which is where she was last seen. A worker says she saw Alexis talking with a man at the pump before she drove away.

A few miles away investigators have been combing a wooded area and searching houses all week near where Murphy's cell phone last gave off a signal.

The teen's car was found near Charlottesville earlier this week.{ }

Murphy's aunt is still trying to understand what happened to her niece , girl she describes as fun loving but not someone who would just disappear.

“She was afraid of her own shadow,” says Angela Taylor, Alexis’ aunt. “Even if she was late for her curfew shed call.”

“We just can't give up at this point,” Taylor says.

The Nelson County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police and the FBI are all investigating the case. If you have any information, call 434-263-7050.
