Alexander Bacon charged for striking Manassas officer

A Herndon man faces texting while driving and other charges after he struck a police officer conducting a traffic stop Saturday morning.

Police say Alexander M. Bacon's Ford swerved off Centreville Road near Phoenix Drive and struck both the female Manassas City Police officer and the car she had stopped around 9 a.m.

The officer was not badly injured.

Police say Bacon stopped his car on Phoenix Drive.

Bacon's charges also include reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. He was held on a $5,000 bond and has a September 9 court date.
