Albert “Butch” Hopkins, the president of the Anacostia Economic Development Corporation, has died. He was 71.
The Washington Post reports that Hopkins was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer five months ago. He passed away last week.
He is praised for bringing major development projects into parts of the city, especially in parts east of the Anacostia River.
The Post reports that funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, 1725 Rhode Island Ave. NW.
