The installation of a new bridge over Interstate 95 near Quantico will shut down the southbound lanes, sometimes entirely, at different points over the weekend.
Construction on the Telegraph Road Bridge near mile marker 148 will begin at about 9:30 p.m. Friday and stretch through the weekend. Single and multiple lane closures will be in effect through Sunday.
The southbound lanes of I-95 will completely shut down between 1 and 4 a.m. Saturday, 1 and 5 a.m. Sunday, and 1 and 3 a.m. Monday. All road work is weather permitting.
During this time, a detour to Route 1 will be in place. Police will be directing traffic and drivers should expect delays of 25 minutes or more.
If you need to plan ahead, crews will shift to northbound work between July 26 and 28.
This work is part of the 95 Express Lanes Project. Drivers can also expect lane closures nightly during the week and extended HOV lane closures during the day on Saturday throughout the summer.
