8-year-old Arlington boy, Eli Sachar, hit by car and killed on vacation in Ohio

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio (ABC) - Police are currently investigating a weekend fatal car versus pedestrian accident that took the life of 8-year-old Eli Sachar of Arlington, Va.

The accident happened around noon Saturday at the intersection of E. Washington and S. Franklin Street in Chagrin Falls when a 62-year-old woman struck the boy and three other family members with her vehicle.

The boy and his family, who were on vacation, were all transported to Hillcrest Hospital by rescue squads, Sachar did not survive. No serious injuries were reported for the other victims involved.

The driver was transported to Ahuja Medical Center for her injuries. Chagrin Falls police Sgt. Kimberley Llbens said it was unknown why the driver did not stop for the pedestrians; police were looking into the driver's medical history for any possible clues.
