WASHINGTON (AP) - Some 7,000 people are expected to participate in a Thanksgiving Day 5k in Washington.

The 10th annual "Trot for Hunger" race begins Thursday at 9 a.m. and starts and ends at Freedom Plaza in downtown Washington. The course winds its way east along Pennsylvania Avenue before traveling in front of the Capitol and looping back to the finish line.

The race benefits So Others Might Eat, a Washington-based charity that provides food, clothing and other services to the city's poor.
