More than 40 animals rescued from home in Anne Arundel County

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A Pasadena man whose home held more than 40 domestic and wild animal he said he was trying to rescue and find home for has been sentenced to probation.

Twenty-one-year-old Shane Taylor pleaded guilty Wednesday to five counts of animal cruelty in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. The Capital of Annapolis reports that he was given one year of supervised probation and allowed to only have one pet in his home.

In August, police and animal control officers raided Taylor's home and found aquatic species, snakes, dogs, turtles, birds, chickens and geese, a goat and a pig.

Officials say many of the animals were without food or drinking water.

Taylor's lawyer said he was trying to act as a rescuer for the animals, but became overwhelmed.
