Thousands of Loudoun County students will be stripped of their bus-riding privileges when the 2013-14 school year begins because they live too close to campus, Leesburg Today reports.

Loudoun County Public Schools officials will begin enforcing a policy that requires students who live within 0.8 miles of thee school they attend to either walk or be dropped off. Leesburg Today says the rule has been in place for years, but only now will be put into action.

Parents who spoke at a school board meeting in June say that many are not able to drop off or pick up their children and do not yet feel safe letting them walk to school.
