BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say hundreds of women have called a hotline set up for patients and former patients of a gynecologist suspected of secretly recording exams before apparently killing himself.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says almost 300 calls had been received by Wednesday morning on the hotline that was announced the day before. Guglielmi says investigators are also reviewing a substantial amount of evidence that will take weeks to process.
Police say 54-year-old Dr. Nikita Levy is believed to have committed suicide. Johns Hopkins Hospital officials say they began investigating Levy this month after an employee reported that he had been using personal equipment to take pictures and videos of his patients. Hospital officials say Levy was later fired.
The hospital says it is also conducting its own investigation.
