CHELTENHAM, Md. (WJLA) - A 30-year-old Maryland woman was reported critically missing Thursday morning, as Prince George's County Police say Shaina Webb of the 1300 block of King Frederick Way in Upper Marlboro was last seen in the Marlton community on Tuesday.
Webb works for a public relations firm, and has a huge circle of friends as well as a loving mother – who are all desperate to find out what happened to their loved one.
Officers were out in droves on Thursday, 48 hours after Webb disappeared on Tuesday night. Childhood friends like Lakisha Turner said she spoke with Webb by phone earlier that day, and nothing was wrong.
The first sign of trouble occurred when Carl Matthews found a cracked iPhone outside of his house on Old Marlboro Pike Drive. He said he almost kept it:
"My buddy was sitting there and I said, 'Man, how you work this, I am going to call these people and give them their phone back."
Matthews managed to reach one of Webb’s friends to return the phone, and then the next morning nine miles away from where the phone was found, police located Shaina’s BMW in the middle of the intersection of Brixton Lane and Westwood Drive. Her purse, money, and keys were still in the car.
"It's not like Shaina," said her mother, Sharyn Webb. "What is going through your heart and mind? I want my baby, I want my firstborn, I want her in my arms."
With that discovery, her friends and family started posting flyers across the area and blanketed social media. Three tips came in that Webb was reportedly spotted the night prior – and all witnesses said the same thing:
"She was really muddy and her clothes were ripped..." said her friend Lakisha Turner.
Webb was seen walking near the Marlton Gold Course, and then near an elementary school. Then there was another sighting at a nearby shopping center. All of the witnesses said she appeared disoriented.
We are going to find Shaina -- she cannot spend another night out here, she can't," said her mother.
Webb is described as a black female, 5'7", 145 pounds, with brown hair. She was last seen possibly wearing an orange or pink jacket, gray sweat pants and running shoes.
