Two teens have been arrested in connection with the Monday evening shooting of a student outside Oxon Hill High School.

Zanaya Bryant, 17, and Anthony Hollingsworth, 18, were arrested and charged Tuesday as adults with attempted murder and related charges.

According to police, a 17-year-old student at Oxon Hill High School was shot around 5:15 p.m. inside an SUV in the school’s parking lot after getting into an argument with Bryant and Hollingsworth. After he was shot, the victim ran into the school for help and collapsed.

The suspects fled the scene following the shooting.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates that robbery may be a motive in the case.

The victim, an 11th grader at the school, in critical but stable condition after he was transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds to the upper body but was later released several hours later, police said.

Police said Bryant and the victim know each other. Both Bryant and Hollingsworth are from Clinton.

The school placed all students inside the school at the time of the shooting on lockdown in the auditorium. At least many of the students were at basketball practice, and parents came to pick them up.

Extra police were present at the school Tuesday morning because of the shooting.
