WASHINGTON (AP) - D.C. police say 19 people have been rescued after a boat overturned in the waters beneath the 14th Street bridge.

Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, says a vessel he described as a dragon boat, or large racing boat, capsized before 2 p.m. Saturday.

The department's harbor unit responded and rescued all 19 people. No injuries were reported.

The cause wasn't immediately clear, though severe weather warnings were in effect for much of the area.

The 14th Street bridge connects D.C. and northern Virginia.
