BRANDYWINE, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say 11 people are injured after a multi-car crash and one vehicle fire on Crain Highway in Prince George's County.

Prince George's County fire department spokesman Mark Brady says one victim has life-threatening injuries. Two others are in trauma care.

Police say six cars were involved in the crash just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Brandywine. The southbound lanes of Route 301 were still closed two hours after the crash.

Brady says the rescue effort involved three fire engines, a rescue engine, five ambulance, three medic units and at least one helicopter.

An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing, but at this point, Maryland State Police officials have ruled out street racing as a cause.
