1 dead in deputy-involved 2-car, head-on collision near liquor store in Md.
CALVERT COUNTY, Md. (ABC7) —
The driver of a Ford Ranger was killed after being involved in a two-car, head-on collision with a Calvert County Sheriff's deputy early Saturday morning in Calvert Co., Maryland.
Calvert County Sheriff's officials did not release the identity of the victim at this time in order to notify the family.
Investigators say the driver was traveling down the wrong way when the crash with the deputy occurred.
Deputy First Class Vaughn Evans was removed from his car and evaluated for injuries at Baltimore Shock Trauma and later released, according to investigators.
Authorities say Vaughn notified them he was involved in a serious accident near Route 4. The driver was trapped in the truck and died at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is underway, and authorities say "impairment" is not believed to have factored into the crash.
