BOWIE, Md. (WJLA) -{ } One local family is in the spotlight in a big way thanks to an eye-opening docu-special, just in time for the final week of Autism Awareness month.

Two brothers diagnosed on the autism spectrum let TV cameras capture their reality for a recent episode of MTV's True Life. Over the weekend, thousands of viewers from across the country got to see the bright personalities of Kenny and Brad Benjamin when the episode premiered.

The feedback has been pouring in from families who connected with the duo, as cameras caught a glimpse of their road to independence, and the lighter moments in-between.

Their mom, Joyce, says the show was a unique and powerful experience.

"I told them that not everybody gets to do something so important that you leave a legacy that can change the world," said Joyce Benjamin.
