ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WJLA) - The man dubbed the Beacon Hill Bandit for allegedly robbing the same bank in Alexandria at least six times is now behind bars.

Police on Saturday arrested Carlton Thorne, 48, and charged him with robbing the TD Bank in the 500 block of Van Dorn Street.

Authorities tell ABC7’s Jennifer Donelan that Thorne is responsible for multiple TD Bank robberies and is the Beacon Hill Bandit.

Fairfax County authorities have also obtained three arrest warrants for Thorne charging him with robberies.

The Beacon Hill Bandit is accused of robbing the TD Bank across from the Beacon Hill shopping center four times between March and July.

During most robberies, the suspect would walk in on a cell phone, demanding money from the tellers verbally or he would write down on notes. Often times he implied he had a weapon.

In two of the robberies, the suspect wore a hardhat and in another he wore a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles baseball hat.

Fairfax County and Alexandria police said he hit at least two other TD Banks, most recently just last Thursday in Annandale.

Sources confirm a tipster lead police to an apartment complex on N. Armistead Street in Alexandria Saturday, where Fairfax County SWAT teams arrested the suspect.
