Surgeon general and consumers group launch campaign to get people to take their medicine
Nearly three out of four Americans do not always take their medications as directed, which leads to serious health consequences and avoidable costs, says a group launching a national campaign Wednesday morning in Foggy Bottom.
This "medication adherence" issue is the subject of a briefing paper to be released today by the National Consumers League and the Duke University Medical Center. The Consumers League is starting a national Script Your Future campaign to get patients to take drugs as prescribed.
The U.S. surgeon general and other members of the health care community will provide first-hand perspectives on medication adherence and how it affects patient health at a kickoff event at 11 a.m. You can watch it streaming live below.
