(WJLA) - A California woman left a gym she had joined just 15 minutes into her first visit when staff asked her to cover up because her toned body was intimidating other members.
According to a report from KTVU-TV, Bay Area resident Tiffany Austin has just begun walking on a treadmill at a Planet Fitness location in Richmond, Calif., when staff members asked her to cover up her exposed midriff. When she was approached by a second staff member, Austin said she had had enough and asked for her money back.
A spokesman for Planet Fitness said that the gym strives "to make everyone feel comfortable." In its advertisements and on its website, the company says members can work out in an environment free of "gymtimidation" and without being "subjected to the hardcore look-at-me-attitude that exists in too many gyms."
