WASHINGTON (WJLA) - It is day 18 of major website issues at healthcare.gov, and along with it comes the blame game.
"Secretary Sebilius has had three-and-half years to launch Obamacare, and she has failed," said Republican Senator Pat Roberts.
"There's no question that what has happened with...the system of national plans is something that has to be improved," said Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi.
For days, the White House has ducked the question of accountability when it comes to registering for Obamacare.
But now, the Republican National Committee is calling for Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to be fired after weeks of glitches and error messages that have stopped users from being able to shop for insurance on healthcare.gov. – the primary marketplace for people in 34 states to buy the insurance mandated by Obamacare.
"Now, I'll be the first to tell you the website launch was much rockier than we would have liked..." Sebelius has admitted.
And new issues are being reported by insurance companies, which are reporting that there are problems with healthcare applications they’re receiving via the problem-plagued website.
"There are constant improvements under way, so we are getting people in much more quickly and have a plan to go back and revisit people who may have had an unsatisfactory experience," Sebelius said.
