Food photos can spoil your appetite, researchers believe

(WJLA) - If you're having trouble maintaining your appetite, researchers have a tip for you - stay off of Instagram.

A group of scientists at Brigham Young University have concluded that people who spend a lot of time browsing photos of food on various social networks, most notably Instagram and Pinterest, have their appetites spoiled more easily.

That's because, according to the study published in the Journal of Consumer Psychology, researchers found that people who looked consistently at photos of food had already made them feel like they had eaten.

"It's sensory boredom -- you've kind of moved on," Ryan Elder, a marketing professor who helped author the study, told the New York Daily News. "You don't want that taste experience anymore."
