Florida may be plagued by 'supermosquitoes' this summer

With sunshine comes warm weather and happier dispositions, usually, but they also sometimes bring something a bit peskier—mosquitoes.

The Sunshine State should now be preparing for a possible statewide infestation of “supermosquitoes,” University of Florida experts are saying.

Psorophora ciliata, commonly known as gallinippers, can grow up to 20 times the size of an average mosquito, Time reported. Entomologists expect that a large crop of these mosquitoes could hatch this summer, given enough rainfall, Time reported.
