Consumer Alert: Baby monitor recall, holiday shopping deals

(WJLA) - An important recall has been issued for parents: a baby monitor called the "Angelcare Movement and Sound Monitor with Sensor Pads" poses a strangulation risk, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The monitor has so far caused the deaths of two infants.

The recalled monitors were sold at several retailers from October 1999 through September of this year.

And when it comes to holiday shopping, the long wait for Xbox fans is finally over, as Microsoft finally launched its latest video game console at midnight in the U.S.

For $500, Xbox One promises cutting-edge graphics and game play, as well as voice-activated commands and new ways of watching television.

But the game console already has competition for gamers this holiday shopping season, as Sony released its Next-Gen Playstation 4 last week.

And Black Friday deals are coming a week early at Walmart, as deals and price matching on select items as seen at competitors started on Friday morning both in stores and online.

It should be interesting to see if people are ready to shop so early a week before Thanksgiving, as "Cyber Monday" is still more than a week away.
