Beware the misleading claims that remain on sunscreen labels

Despite an FDA crackdown, many of the claims on some sunscreen labels are false.

If you plan on spending time outdoors this weekend, don't believe everything you read on the label on your sunscreen.

Federal officials and consumer advocates cracked down on the sunscreen industry, but they say many of the labels on the products you buy are very misleading.

Last year the Food and Drug Administration cracked down on the claims made by almost all sunscreen manufacturers, specifically their claims about being long lasting or preventing cancer.

But some bottles still have the same misleading labels that were supposed to be banned.
