The Department of Homeland Security is speeding up the rollout of a system that will digitally verify student visas in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing, Nextgov reports.
The system, which will launch on or around June 1, is aimed to rework the way officials can search for visa information for everyone coming in and out of the United States.
Officials told Nextgov that the acceleration of the process came after a foreign person was among those accused by Boston Police of either hiding or trying to destroy evidence in relation to the April 15 bombing. That suspect was able to get back into the country without a valid visa.
