IRS executives spending hundreds of thousands on travel, report says

A pair of Internal Revenue Service executives traveled on the government's dime for more days than they worked over the past two years, according to Federal Times.

A Treasury Department report indicates that while travel among IRS employees on a whole isn't excessive, one executive spent more than $283,000 on 417 days of travel in 2011 and 2012

In other cases, Federal Times says that numerous executives took several trips to the same city, including managers who were hired by the agency but did not relocated to Washington.

The IRS is in the throes of furloughs that will caused five days of unpaid leave for each of the agency's 90,000 workers.
