(WJLA) - For the first time in three years, federal workers got a long-awaited raise Wednesday.
The Washington Post reports that a 1 percent raise for all federal workers kicked in on New Year's Day, ending a pay freeze that dated back to the era just after the recession.
President Barack Obama did not authorities pay increases in either 2011 or 2013. By executive order, the Post says Obama authorized the pay increase just before Christmas.
