      Esri Founder Jack Dangermond brings GIS to virtually every federal agency

      Geographic Information Systems use hardware, software, and data to teach us things about the world around us. They commonly result in maps, but the uses are as varied as the data itself.

      In government, the term GIS is nearly synonymous with Esri -- a company based in Redlands, California. They supply mapping software to virtually every federal agency.

      Last week, Esri held a two-day conference in Washington D.C. GM's Hatzel Vela sat down with the company's founder, Jack Dangermond.
