The fact that 32 very generous people donated upwards of $600,000 to political candidates since 2009 isn't remarkable on the surface.
When it's revealed that those 32 people are dead, though, it changes the conversation.
A USA Today investigation of Federal Election Commission campaign contribution filings since Jan. 1, 2009 revealed that 32 deceased people donated $586,000 to various candidates during that time period.
In one case that USA Today uncovered, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., received a $100,000 donation from a prominent donor two months after he passed away.
