Tessanne Chin wins The Voice Season 5

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jamaica celebrates with the United States.

That's what Carson Daly said as fireworks exploded on stage and Tessanne Chin was crowned the season-five winner of "The Voice." Daly says a record number of votes were cast this season, giving the title to Jimmy Cliff's former backup singer.

Chin tackled difficult material during the competition, including songs by Whitney Houston and The Beatles. Chin's win is the second for coach Adam Levine. Blake Shelton has three, but didn't have a finalist this season.

Will Champlin, also from Team Adam, placed third. Sixteen-year-old Jacquie Lee is the runner-up. She says coach Christina Aguilera helped her to be a better singer and a better person. The Voice returns in February.
