NFL asks potential Super Bowl halftime performers if they'd pay to play

NEW YORK (WJLA) - The NFL has narrowed its list of potential Super Bowl XLIX halftime performers to three, but the final decision might come down to which act is willing to pay for the privilege.

The three performers being considered include Katy Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. Historically, the NFL hasn't paid performers for headlining the Super Bowl's halftime concert, but this year the league has asked its trio of finalists if they'd be willing to give a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league in exchange for being selected.

The NFL's pay-to-play proposal has received a less than enthusiastic reception from the performers, sources told the Journal.
