National Margarita Day is celebrated every year on Feb. 22. The popular drink dates back to the 1930s and today it's served on the rocks, frozen and in different flavors.
To mark the occasion, NewsChannel 8 celebrated with Casa Oaxaca, voted best Latin American restaurant in D.C. by Washington City Paper.
Casa Oaxaca's Agave Rita recipe:
2 oz Tequila Joven
1 oz Cointreau
1 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz agave nectar
1/2 oz cold water
Pour the ingredients into a glass with ice cubes.
Mix salt with chili powder. Salt the rim of a chilled margarita glass.
Pour contents, with ice, into the glass
Garnish with the lime wedge.
