Matthew McConaughey: Skinny, drops 30 pounds for movie role

      Today's pop culture foray finds a skinny Matthew McConaughey, some peanuts, Sarah Palin (kinda sorta), other things, and the Mystery Music Video.

      SKINNY FOR A CAUSE: And for an art, per People, "Who's that gaunt gentleman standing with Camila McConaughey? Surprise - it's actually her husband, Matthew. The actor, 42, has become somewhat unrecognizable in recent weeks since losing 30 pounds for his upcoming role in The Dallas Buyer's Club, the true story of a man with AIDS in the mid-1980s who seeks out experimental HIV drugs to prolong his life."

      CHARLIE: Brown, that is, per the Los Angeles Times, "Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and the gang are coming to the big screen, as 20th Century Fox Animation and its Blue Sky Studios unit announced Tuesday that they have acquired the rights to Charles M. Schulz's iconic "Peanuts" comic strip. The planned movie, the product of an agreement between the studio and Schulz's heirs, is scheduled to arrive in theaters Nov. 25, 2015."

      JOHN LENNON: Just the facts, per the Huffington Post, "October 9th is a big day for one of the first families of music. Not only is it the 37th birthday of John and Yoko's only son, Sean Lennon, John Lennon would have turned the ripe old age of 72 today. . . In celebration, we've collected some of the singer's most insightful, eloquent, and famously controversial quotes."{}

      FOR SOME IN THE INDUSTRY: This is a big deal, per The Wrap, "Penske Media Corporation, the owner of Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood, has finalized a deal to purchase Variety -- a digital age story of a blog buying Hollywood's oldest trade paper in a bid to reverse the print publication's declining fortunes."

      DWTS: Of Tina's daughter, per Us Weekly, "During the October 8 episode of Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars, the single mom burst into tears while rehearsing with pro partner Mark Ballas. "I know you are bummed to have me as a partner," she told him. Ballas replied, "I have been on the show 11 seasons now and I don't always have a Shawn [Johnson] or a Sabrina [Bryan]. I have always supported you and been at your side."

      AH, NO THANKS: But the other guy did it, per The Hollywood Reporter, "One spot Mitt Romney won't be hitting on the campaign trail: the Nickelodeon studios. The Republican presidential candidate declined an invitation from the children's network to participate in its special "Kids Pick the President: The Candidates." According to a release from Nickelodeon, Romney's camp said he was unable to fit the taping into his schedule after multiple attempts from the network."

      AND FINALLY: Today's very special mystery music. Please check it out.
