Madonna talks high school and hairy armpits in Harper's

Daybreak Daily’s afternoon jog through the pop-culture park stumbles upon Madonna, and also features the mystery music video.

NOT SO SMOOTH: Per People, “Today, she’s untouchable: Madonna has her music career, an upcoming directorial debut, her pick of famous boyfriends and a soon-to-launch clothing line and fragrance. But growing up in the Midwest, life wasn’t always easy for the Material Girl.

“The boys in my school would make fun of me,” she reveals in the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar. They called her “‘hairy monster.’ You know, things like that,” she recalls. “And then, going to high school, I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite. I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits.”

11-11-11: Per the Los Angeles Times, “The number 11 is making headlines as the day, month and year line up for Nov. 11, 2011. Movie studios are hoping the palindrome date will pay off at the box office. Brides and grooms are planning their weddings for 11-11-11, perhaps for an easily remembered anniversary.{ }

But 11 gets far less attention in pop culture than its more popular number line neighbors, which fall under the spotlight in such productions as "Three's Company," "The Fantastic Four," "Seven Samurai," "The Dirty Dozen" and "Friday the 13th." In honor of 11's day in the sun, here's a look at 11 references to the number 11 in pop culture.”

A-LISTERS: Per Rolling Stone, “They got the big surprise guest out of the way early at this week’sStand Up for Heroes, the fifth annual benefit for the Bob Woodruff Foundation and{ }{ }

"I don't know what to say – I'm the opening act for a comedy show," joked President Bill Clinton.

The red carpet gala at the Beacon Theatre, part of the New York Comedy Festival's opening night, featured returning regulars Bruce Springsteen and Jon Sewart, as well as comedians Ricky Gervais and Jim Gaffigan and the Max Weinberg Big Band.{ }

Woodruff, the ABC newsman who suffered a serious head wound in Iraq, now raises big money for more than 40 veterans' organizations collected under the umbrella of his foundation. In addition to ticket sales, audience members last night pledged nearly $400,000, and one patron bought Springsteen's acoustic guitar, his shirt, his harmonica and harmonica rack – and a year's worth of maintenance on the rack, joked newsman Brian Williams – for $160,000.”

WHAT IS IT ABOUT KATIE HOLMES?: Per PerezHilton, “It's called acting Tom. Adam Sandler visited David Letterman to promote his new movie Jack and Jill. Katie Holmes co-stars in the film as Adam's wife, a fact that her husband, Tom Cruise, didn't seem to understand. According to Sandler, Cruise said:

"This is weird that my wife is going to be your wife in the movie, it's very weird, it's bizarre."

Really Tom? You've been in countless films and you weren't actually married to the women that played your wives (except for that one time).
Of course Adam has a cleaver response or Tom's craziness. He told Letterman,

"It's a PG movie, no worries, nothing is going to happen. In fact, anything I do with your wife in the movie, you can do with my wife. So every morning I'd go to the set and hear, 'Please do a love scene. Please slowly take your shirt off in that scene and rub her ever so tenderly.”

EAT SOME POTATOES: Per Radar, “Is ageless Demi Moore finally starting to show her years?

The actress spent Thursday -- the day before her 49th birthday -- getting pampered at a West Hollywood nail salon looking shockingly skinny in baggy clothes and with her usually unlined face showing signs of stress – and has the photos. Clutching onto a can of Red Bull energy drink, the almost birthday girl did not seem to be in the celebratory spirit, looking sullen and somber as she stepped out of the Sunset Plaza Jessica Nail Clinic.”

WE DID FORGET: Per E!, “In case you forgot, let us remind you: the Harry Potter gang is reuniting one last time at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando to celebrate the DVD/Blu-ray release of The Deathly Hallows, Part 2, and E! Online will livestream the star-packed red carpet Saturday at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.

Tomorrow is only a day away, but we can't wait any longer!
That's exactly how we all felt when we first witnessed the love blossoming between Ron and Hermione way back when. While it may not have been love at first sight, there was instant chemistry, and we have watched their friendship evolve throughout the years.”

DANCIN’: Per Access Hollywood, ““Dancing with the Stars” frontrunner J.R. Martinez stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Friday where the beloved actor celebrated Veterans Day with Billy Bush and Kit Hoover, and dished on how his “All My Children” role landed him not only a steady paycheck, but a lovely lady as well.

“I first met her in 2008 when I joined ‘All My Children,’” J.R. told Billy and Kit, of girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones, who was the assistant to the soap’s executive producer at the time. “We were friends, and, you know, it was a workplace, so you don’t want to cross the line. I was respectful of that, and for about two years we were great friends.

“Finally, something happened, something clicked, and I just said, ‘[Do] you ever look at me differently than just a friend?’” he continued, with a shy smile. “And she kind of paid attention to it, and here we are! It’s great.”

THERE’S STILL HOPE: Per Us Weekly, “Pippa Middleton has reclaimed her title as Britain's most eligible bachelorette.

The 28-year-old British socialite has broken things off with her on-off beau Alex Loudon, several sources confirm to Us Weekly.
"[They split up] three weeks ago," an insider says. "It's definitely over."
Adds a source close to Loudon's brother: "They are apart now, but Alex hopes they can still work things out."

Middleton first met Loudon, a 31-year-old cricketeer turned finance whiz, on a blind date set up by mutual pals. The couple of more than a year first split in June 2011, only to reunite weeks later.”

AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video.
