Daybreak Daily’s afternoon survey of the pop-culture landscape finds a crooner and a slugger, a tribute, other things, and the mystery music video.

BOXING BIEBER: Maybe he can save an increasingly irrelevant sport, per Billboard, “Heavyweight pop star Justin Bieber shared a bit of his swag with super welterweight boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. in vegas Saturday night. Biebs, along with rapper 50 Cent and WWE wrestler Triple H, had the honor of escorting Mayweather into the ring before the boxer's highly anticipated fight with Miguel Cotton at Las Vegas' MGM Grand arena. The 18-year-old chart-topper, who carried two of Mayweather's championship belts into the arena before the fight, was also the first to congratulate the 35-year-old boxer after he defeated Cotto.”

ADAM YAUCH: Coldplay dusts off ‘Fight for Your Right,’ in tribute, per the Los Angeles Times, “When the moment calls for an eulogy, Coldplay is as fine a choice as any. The British superstars completed a three-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, a day when the music community was in mourning over the loss of Beastie Boy founder Adam Yauch. Coldplay didn't let the moment go unnoticed. The group took one of the Beastie Boys' signature songs and turned it into a piano-driven ballad.”

MEANWHILE: A nod to the fans, per Rolling Stone, “Beastie Boys rapper Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz thanked the group's fans for their support. . . on the band's official Tumblr. Horovitz wrote, in part: ". . .{ }i wanna say thank you to all our friends and family (which are kinda one in the same) for all the love and support. i’m glad to know that all the love that Yauch has put out into the world is coming right back at him. thank you."

CRASS: Commercialism, that is, per the Huffington Post, “An extended cut of Nicki Minaj's Pepsi commercial landed online this weekend, and a remix of the rapper/singer's "Moment for Life" provides the soundtrack to a video that features a couple quite literally living in a series of frozen moments.”

CRASS II: But it’s exercise versus soda, per London’s Daily Mail, “When most people put on a pair of tracksuit bottoms, they're normally slugging it out at the gym - but not Katy Perry. The 26-year-old singer looks picture perfect in the new adidas commercial proving that exercise attire can be sexy too.”

DIVA ALERT: Sore throat or whatever, per TMZ, “Rihanna was a no-show for her final rehearsal for "Saturday Night Live" last night -- which did not sit well with the show's producers, including head man Lorne Michaels ... TMZ has learned. According to our sources, RiRi called in sick for the dress rehearsal, which is done live in front of a studio audience right before the actual show.”

REVIVING A CAREER: Lindsay Lohan’s doing a pretty good job, per People, “Lohan, 25, dined at Manhattan restaurant Philippe over the weekend with Woody Allen, her rep confirms to PEOPLE. There's no word on whether Lohan, who was recently cast as Elizabeth Taylor for an upcoming Lifetime movie, has plans to work with Allen professionally – but it's probably an opportunity she would welcome.”

DAD, YOU’RE EMBARRASSING ME: It’s coming, per Us Weekly, “Jay-Z opened up about first-time fatherhood -- to Blue Ivy, his fourth-month-old daughter with wife Beyonce -- on Sunday's episode of Oprah's Master Class: Special Edition on OWN. . . "Well, I mean, everyone imagines they'll be a great dad," he confided. "Until they're teenagers saying, 'Get away from me, Dad. You're embarrassing me!' Right? Everyone imagines that, right?"

EXPERIMENT: More news is good news, per The Hollywood Reporter, “Disney's ABC News and Univision Communications' Univision News on Monday made official a long-expected agreement in principle to form a multiplatform news joint venture targeting Hispanic Americans with English-language news.”

NEVER DID SEE WHAT THE BIG DEAL WAS: No matter, per the Insider, “Following Ashton Kutcher's questionable appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Miranda Lambert apparently buried the hatchet with the Two and a Half Men star over the weekend. Miranda posed with the People's Choice winner at a pre-Kentucky Derby party in Louisville on Friday.”

AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video.
