Daybreak Daily’s afternoon timeout from the real world, aka the pop-culture world, finds a fruity musician, romance, other things, and the mystery music video.

MISSED YOU, GIRL: Word has it the set was criminal, per the Huffington Post, “At turns frenetic, contemplative and whimsical, Fiona Apple made her return to the stage Wednesday at the South By Southwest Music Conference and Festival. The show was one of the most anticipated at South By Southwest this year, and a large crowd turned out to her early evening set. It's been five years since Apple played a live show outside of Los Angeles.”

HMMMM: Just sayin,’ per TMZ, “Whitney Houston's daughter was sporting an interesting piece of jewelry on her ring finger during her PDA-filled stroll with her "adopted" brother this week ... a big, fat ring. As we previously reported, Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon finally went public with their relationship this week ... holding hands and kissing during a lunch date in Atlanta.”

MEANWHILE: A special showing, per the Insider, “To mark the 20th Anniversary, which sadly transpires mere months after Whitney Houston's tragic passing, The Bodyguard will be returning to theaters for a special limited engagement on March 28.”

FIRST PERSON: Rihanna defends hook-up with her ex, per Entertainment Weekly, “After igniting a firestorm of criticism (and in some cases praise) for her with decision to work with Brown last month on two remixes that they dropped simultaneously, Rihanna is finally speaking out. The singer called into On Air With Ryan Seacrest this morning to explain why she asked Brown to guest on her single “Birthday Cake.”

LOVE BUDDIES: Here’s quite the good read regarding Bill Maher and Rush Limbaugh, per The Hollywood Reporter, “The comedian insists that he has a different standard than the firebrand, and insulting a public figure is fair game.”

KATE: So cool she is, per E!, “Since Prince Harry is still in Brazil and Prince William is otherwise engaged in the Falklands, it fell to Kate Middleton to help ramp up the excitement (something she's preternaturally good at, incidentally), as the ambassador of the London Olympics made a private visit to the city's Olympic Park this morning to meet up with Team Great Britain's women's hockey squad.”

ASHLEY JUDD: Still getting’ it done, per Vulture, “Imagine your mom beating an assassin to death. That's Missing, a junky, shameless but likable action series premiering tonight on ABC (7 pm/8 central). Ashley Judd, who's somehow made a whole career out of being underrated, plays Becca Stone, a retired CIA operative whose teenage son (Nick Eversman) gets kidnapped when he goes off to college in Rome.”

NICE TRIO: Cast led by a breakfast-club dude, per Deadline Hollywood, “Anthony Michael Hall, Danny Trejo and Mickey Rourke will star in Dead in Tombstone, the Roel Reine-directed action adventure film that begins filming next week.”

MIFFED: At the media, of course, per PerezHilton, “Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth may be divorcing after 11 years of marriage, but that doesn't mean either of them were stepping out on the other! And they are (not happy) with all the infidelity reports and speculation.”

CRADLE NEWS: Good for her, per People, “Good things come to those who wait, as Charlize Theron has learned. Following Wednesday's news that Theron has adopted a son, a source tells PEOPLE that the 2004 Oscar winner "has been trying to adopt a baby for a long time."

SHUTTIN’ IT DOWN: per the AP, “The horseracing series "Luck" was canceled by HBO after a third thoroughbred died during production of the drama starring Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte, the channel said Wednesday.”

AND FINALLY: Today’s mystery music video.
