Daybreak pop-culture edition: Wardrobe malfunction draws ire

Daybreak’s afternoon pop edition takes a glimpse at a wardrobe malfunction, shark obsessed Leo DiCaprio, Hollywood romance rumors and more.

LIVE OOPS: Horrors! Chill out, PTC. Per TMZ, “The Parents Television Council is blasting "Good Morning America" for airing Nicki Minaj's nip slip on live TV this morning, saying the whole thing COULD have been prevented with a 5-second delay. TMZ spoke with Tim Winter, president of the PTC, who tells us, "For the umpteenth time in recent memory a morning news show has included inappropriate content for children and families.". . . Minaj's left breast popped out of her top (and) her exposed nipple was broadcasted to the entire East Coast audience.”

A spokesperson for the network tells TMZ, "Although we had a five-second delay in place for the Nicki Minaj concert on GMA , the live East Coast feed of the concert regrettably included certain fleeting images of the performer that were taken out of later feeds of the broadcast in other time zones."

CLOONEY-KEIBLER: How sweet. Per People, “They met in 2006 at an Oscars party. George Clooney told her he'd seen her on Dancing with the Stars. The woman, Stacy Keibler, was flattered he knew who she was. Now, five years later, the leggy blonde, who is also a former WWE star, is the subject of romance rumors swirling around the recently single, seasoned bachelor. Clooney, 50, who announced his split from Italian TV host Elisabetta Canalis in June, has been clocking in time with Keibler, 31, a source tells PEOPLE.

KINDRED SPIRITS: Wait, there’s no such thing as spirits. Per the L.A. Times, “Jon Stewart is hardly a conservative, but once every millennium or so, he happens to agree with the folks over at Fox News. On Thursday's episode of "The Daily Show," Stewart took aim at American Atheists, an organization that is trying to stop the display of a metal cross at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum. He fired this opening salvo:"By the way, atheists, why do you [care]?" Stewart argued that the cross, fashioned from rubble from the collapsed Twin Towers, "is an artifact. It has come to mean something to people who view it as a symbol of comfort."

WOO HOO! Per Deadline, “Fox today released detailed broadcast schedule for the first season of Simon Cowell's The X Factor, which launches with a 2-night premiere on Sept. 21 and Sept. 22. Live performance shows will begin Nov.2, coinciding with the start of the November sweep, with the two-part finale slated for Wednesday, Dec. 21 and Thursday, Dec. 22 (and the AP reports that the winning singer or singers will receive a $5 million cash prize and be featured in a Super Bowl commercial for Pepsi).”

POLITICO BLINK: “On Thursday, the comedian who‘s been a big supporter of the president tweeted a link to the song “Trying My Best to Love You” and wrote, “This song is how I feel about @BarackObama lately. Enjoy.”Some lyrics to the slow, soulful ballad: Our love is simple/Our love is crystal/But still sometimes you cannot help yourself/You step outside and hear bells ringing/For you, for you …Trying my best to love you …They make it so hard on us baby … It's so hard on us baby.”

BUT IT’S REALLY GOOD SOUP: Per PerezHilton, “While Jack from Titanic sleeps with the fishes, Leonardo DiCaprio is trying to save them. The actor used the platform favored among celebs these days to acknowledge his disgust with the shark fin soup. He tweeted: "Saw this last week. 357 dead sharks 4 a bowl of soup? Really?" Leo has tweeted about about the cause before.”

FAMILY VACATION: The Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous version. Per E!, “Neil Patrick Harris has finally taken some time off from work. The How I Met Your Mother multi-hyphenate and his partner, David Burtka, have jetted off to Europe with their twins Gideon and Harper. The Harris-Burtka clan has been spotted in the South of France with pals Elton John and his husband David Furnish along with their little one Zachary. The two bold-faced broods have been enjoying some time on the water and in the sun aboard Sir Elton's yacht.”{ }

{ }H/T TO A MASTER: Per Rolling Stone, “Thursday night, the Johnny Cash Festival paid tribute to the legendary singer with a nearly four-hour long show of performances by Cash's siblings Tommy and Joanne, daughter Roseanne, son John Carter Cash and wife Laura, former son-in-law Rodney Crowell, and granddaughter Chelsea Crowell at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Joining them to entertain a sellout audience of 7,000 were close friends of the Man In Black and music legends in their own right, Kris Kristofferson and George Jones.” { }
